Environmental Scientist 1
November 10th, 2006
To Whom It May Concern:
I am keenly interested in the position of entry level Environmental Scientist 1 that is being offered by SAIC in TOWN, STATE. My BA from the University of STATE in Environmental Science and my experiences in my professional life have prepared me for the available position. I can offer a well-developed array of skills and experiences that can make a valuable contribution to the operation.
• My degree encompassed the study of various subjects in the environmental sciences. I have coursework in Ecology, Hydrology, Geology, Meteorology and Micro/Macro Biology.
• I have both field and lab experience. I can quickly learn and master the technology needed in the field as well as software needed to analyze data in the lab or office. Since graduation I have continued to utilize my analytical skills in assessing the impact of presentations and lessons.
• During my university studies I completed level one environmental assessments of abandoned mining/geological testing sites. The reports I gave included basic risk analysis and recommendations for further action. I am familiar with the processes of technical and compliance inspections.
• As an educator and cultural ambassador in Japan I learned to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people including high-level education officials. My skills in intercultural communication are easily transferable to interdepartmental communication.
• As an educator and peer leader in Japan and now in a TOWN office I continue to gain independent research experience. I have researched a range of subjects with material in both English and Japanese and presented my findings at regional, local and office levels.
In addition I offer outstanding organizational skills, which assist me in developing, evaluating and implementing projects and solutions. These qualities, combined with my attention to detail and dedication to duty, should allow me to make a positive contribution to this project.
I would welcome the opportunity for a personal interview to discuss how my skills and strengths can best serve this position. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Nekocon
